Baggage Allowance and Baggage Rules
Baggage allowance is determined by the airline, fare type, cabin class, route, ticket conditions and, where applicable, the operating carrier. Baggage allowances may therefore vary between flights, fare families and passengers within the same booking.
Important: The baggage allowance shown on the passenger's confirmed e-ticket, booking confirmation or airline booking record shall always prevail over any general baggage information published on this website.
1. General Baggage Rules
Unless otherwise stated in the applicable fare conditions, the following general principles apply:
- Checked baggage allowance may be provided by weight (kg) or by number of pieces, depending on the airline and route.
- Cabin baggage allowance may vary according to fare type, cabin class and route.
- Baggage allowance applies only to the passenger and flight specified in the ticket and is not automatically transferable to another passenger or another booking.
- Additional baggage, excess baggage and special baggage may be subject to separate charges.
- The baggage allowance of one airline may not apply to another airline operating a different sector of the same itinerary.
- For codeshare, interline or multi-airline itineraries, baggage rules may be determined by the applicable Most Significant Carrier (MSC), marketing carrier or operating carrier, as specified by the applicable airline rules.
- Airlines may change baggage allowances, fees, weight limits, dimensions and acceptance conditions without prior notice, subject to applicable law and ticket conditions.
2. Cabin Baggage / Carry-on Baggage
Cabin baggage must comply with the airline's permitted weight, dimensions and number-of-pieces requirements. Passengers may be required to check in cabin baggage at the airport if it exceeds the permitted limits.
Any baggage exceeding the permitted cabin baggage allowance may be subject to additional baggage charges or may be required to be checked into the aircraft hold.
3. Airline-Specific Baggage Conditions
The following information is provided as a general guide only. Exact baggage entitlement must be verified against the passenger's actual ticket and itinerary.

Important Thai Lion Air Notice: Passengers should not assume that all Thai Lion Air fares include checked baggage. The allowance displayed on the actual ticket or booking record must be checked before departure.
4. Multi-Airline and Connecting Flights
When an itinerary contains flights operated by two or more airlines, baggage allowance may differ between sectors.
A baggage allowance purchased or included for one airline does not automatically apply to another airline unless the applicable airline rules expressly provide otherwise.
Passengers travelling on separate tickets may also be required to collect and re-check baggage during transit. In such circumstances, passengers are responsible for complying with the baggage rules of each separate ticket and airline.
Important: For codeshare, interline and multi-airline itineraries, the applicable baggage policy may be determined by the airline designated under the relevant baggage rules, including the Most Significant Carrier (MSC), marketing carrier or operating carrier.
5. Excess Baggage and Additional Baggage
If the passenger's baggage exceeds the free baggage allowance included in the ticket, the passenger may be required to pay excess baggage, overweight, oversized or additional baggage charges.
Where available, additional baggage may be purchased in advance through ThaiFlightCentre or directly from the airline. Availability, purchase deadlines and applicable fees are determined by the airline.
Airport excess baggage rates may be significantly higher than pre-purchased baggage rates. Passengers are therefore encouraged to arrange additional baggage in advance whenever possible.
6. Sports Equipment
Sports equipment, including bicycles, golf equipment, surfboards, diving equipment and other oversized sporting items, may be subject to special baggage rules and additional charges.
Sports equipment may not always be accepted as part of the passenger's normal checked baggage allowance. Special handling or advance reservation may be required.
Passengers travelling with sports equipment should contact ThaiFlightCentre before ticket issuance whenever possible so that the applicable airline conditions and charges can be checked.
7. Prohibited and Restricted Items
Certain items may be prohibited or restricted in checked baggage or cabin baggage for safety, security, customs or regulatory reasons.
These may include, without limitation:
- Dangerous goods and hazardous materials;
- Flammable substances;
- Explosives and certain chemical substances;
- Certain batteries and battery-powered equipment;
- Weapons and weapon-like items;
- Items prohibited by airport security or local authorities;
- Other articles restricted under applicable aviation regulations.
Passengers are responsible for checking the applicable airline, airport and government regulations before travel.
8. Delayed, Damaged or Lost Baggage
ThaiFlightCentre acts as a booking and travel service intermediary and does not operate baggage handling services.
Claims relating to delayed, damaged, lost or missing baggage should normally be reported immediately to the airline's baggage service office at the arrival airport and documented using the applicable baggage irregularity report or claim procedure.
Any compensation, liability, reimbursement or claim relating to baggage shall be determined by the operating airline and applicable international conventions, national laws and airline conditions.
9. Baggage Information Disclaimer
The baggage information published on ThaiFlightCentre.com is provided for general guidance and may not reflect every fare, route, ticket type, codeshare arrangement, seasonal policy, promotional condition or temporary airline waiver.
The baggage allowance and conditions shown on the passenger's actual e-ticket, itinerary receipt, booking confirmation or applicable airline record shall prevail.
ThaiFlightCentre is not responsible for additional baggage charges arising from baggage exceeding the allowance applicable to the passenger's ticket.
Airline baggage policies, fees, dimensions and weight limits may be changed by the relevant airline without prior notice. Passengers are advised to verify the latest baggage requirements with the operating airline before departure.
